Our Type III high early strength cement is also tested monthly to ensure that it complies with ASTM Standard C 150 and AASHTO M 85 requirements.

Non-Decorative Styles of Precast Concrete Steps

  • Traditional: Our classic gray precast concrete steps complement any design that calls for a classic, non-decorative look.

Decorative Steps - Choose from Two Popular Types

  • Exposed Stone-Look Steps: Available in brown tones or gray tones, our Peastone-exposed Stone-Look Steps are attractive, durable and functional. To create the unique look of each style of our Exposed-Stone Steps, we hand-select the decorative stone and apply a treatment to our form that exposes the unique and decorative stone within.
  • Granite-Look Steps: Our elegant Granite-Look Steps elevate the style of any entrance. Crafted from A.J. Foss’s signature high-quality precast concrete and designed with the enduring beauty of natural stone, Granite-Look Steps are a practical, cost-effective, easy-to-install alternative to granite. Like all A.J. Foss-crafted precast concrete steps, our Granite-Look Steps provide you with the all-weather practicality that steps right up to handle harsh New England freeze/thaw conditions. Just ask our satisfied clients throughout New Hampshire, Maine and Northern Massachusetts, and they’ll tell you that their A.J. Foss Granite-Look Steps are attractive, durable, non-slip, weather and salt-resistant.

Bulkhead Steps

A.J. Foss-crafted bulkhead steps are available in Type A, B, S, C, and D standards, to fit the appropriate elevation requirements. Each set of A.J. Foss crafted bulkhead steps is professionally-installed to ensure maximum and long-lasting performance. Our bulkhead steps are sized to fit any bulkhead doors manufactured by The Bilco Company or Gordon Corporation.

Properly Installed Bulkhead Steps Ensure Success

The bulkhead steps are fastened to your foundation using threaded rods, and then bolted with nuts and plates to secure them to the foundation. When the bolts are tightened, gaskets are placed between the pieces to create a seal that is watertight – as long as the appropriate grading and drainage requirements have been met. For example, roof drainage must be diverted away from the bulkhead opening; perimeter drainage must be properly installed; the top of the concrete casting must be at least 2 inches above grade; and the grade around the bulkhead must slope away from the building’s foundation.
